Obituary

Albert E. "Al" Laubert, Sr., age 75, of St. Elizabeth, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in Vienna on November 20, 1931, son of Frank Henry and Lillian Lavon (Lazier) Laubert. On July 26, 1958, in Freeburg, he was married to Arline Marie Wilde, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer for 30 years. He retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections where he had worked for the Algoa Correctional Center. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and the Argyle VFW Post 8045.

Other survivors include two daughters, Ruthann Laubert of St. Elizabeth, and Nancy Greubel of Lake Ozark; three sons, Albert Laubert, Jr., of St. Thomas, Frank Laubert of Freeburg, and Charlie Laubert of Wardsville; one sister, Laura Lee Weidinger of Vienna; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Francis Laubert; two brothers, Richard and William Laubert; and two sisters, Vivian Stegeman and Frances Bax.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Freeburg.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, January 8, at Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
