Albert Henry Lindenbusch, age 90, of St. Elizabeth, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at the home. He was born in St. Elizabeth on February 23, 1916, a son of the late Steve and Mathilda (Evers) Lindenbusch. In June 1946, in Jefferson City, he was married to Ann Haselhorst, who survives at the home.
Albert was a lifelong resident of St. Elizabeth. He was a charter member of the St. Elizabeth American Legion Post #545 and a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth; St. Joseph's Sodality; Cursillo Movement and Knights of Columbus. Albert was a past CCD instructor, communion minister and was Mayor of St. Elizabeth for eight years.
Albert served in the US Army WWII Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945 as a Signal Corp Operator, Japanese Radio Code Interceptor and Interpreter. He also served in the Korean Conflict from November 1950 to August 1951. He maintained his Radio Station Operator license WØRXR until the 1980's. After Albert returned from the Korean Conflict in 1951 he started, owned and operated Lindenbusch Repair Service. At retirement time, he only slowed down. Honesty, integrity and hard work were his principles of life. He enjoyed fishing and having a first class garden, of which he gladly shared with others.
Others who survive him include: one son, Dan Lindenbusch and wife Jane of St. Thomas; three grandchildren, Susanne Brenneke and husband John of Osage Bend, Amy Lindenbusch of St. Thomas and Marc Lindenbusch and wife Erin of St. Thomas and four great grandchildren, Jordan, Cole, Zachary and Hannah Brenneke of Osage Bend.
An infant daughter, Kathleen Mathilda Lindenbusch, also preceded him in death at birth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Community Center with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Francis Xavior Catholic Church Sunday Radio Mass Program or St. Thomas the Apostle Church – Renovation and Expansion Fund or SSM Hospice Program.
