Obituary

Albert Henry Plassmeyer, age 85, of Meta, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home. He was born in Meta on August 30, 1931, son of the late Louis H. and Regina C. (Borgmeyer) Plassmeyer. On May 23, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon, Albert married Florence (Fennewald) Otto, who survives at the home.

Albert served in the United States Army during the Korean War from November 17, 1954, until his honorable discharge on October 31, 1956. In August of 2013, Albert went to Washington D.C. with the Central Missouri Honor Flight. Albert was a lifelong farmer and also worked at Missouri Department of Corrections and for Carroll-Rhema Motors, Linn.

Albert had four F's that fulfilled his life. Faith, Family, Farming and Fishing. Albert was a life member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Albert served in many organizations including St. Elizabeth Council #6640 where he served as Grand Knight, Fourth Degree Member of St. Jude's Assembly #1567 and served as the Faithful Navigator, and Comptroller. He was also a member of St. Jude's Honor Guard, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693, and American Legion Post 545 of St. Elizabeth. Albert enjoyed attending the monthly card club to play cards and visit with friends.

In addition to his loving wife Florence, he is also survived by four children, Jennifer Wankum (Danny) of Meta, Jim Plassmeyer (Teresa) of St. Elizabeth, LeAnn Meyer (Mark) of Koeltztown and Joe Plassmeyer (Kim) of St. Elizabeth; three stepchildren, Mike Otto (Pam) of Marshall, Cathy Reinkemeyer (Mark) of St. Elizabeth, and Steve Otto (Tammie) of Iowa City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas, Shelby, and Madison Wankum, Jordan, Megan, and Brandon Plassmeyer, Cody and Kyle Meyer, Landon, Harrison, and Preston Plassmeyer and Baby Girl Plassmeyer due in May; 10 step-grandchildren, Aron (Lorelei) Otto, Ryan (Sarah) Otto, Chelsea Otto, Emily (Todd) Doerhoff, Derek (Candace) Reinkemeyer, Ashley (Zach) Buechter, Whitley Otto, Clayton Otto, Zach Fishburn, and Taylor Martin; six step-great-grandchildren, Avery Doerhoff, Braxton Otto, Carter and Preston Simmons, Evelyn Buechter, and Jacey Rae Fishburn; and two sisters, Eleanor Wilde and Lorene Heckemeyer both of St. Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roman Plassmeyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Fr. Joby Thomas will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service held at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 15, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.
