Alta Lorene Beal, age 87, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Furley, KS, on January 30, 1935, daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (Hedrick) Long. On February 6, 1953, Alta was united in marriage to Billy Otto Beal, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2014.
Alta had a rewarding career as a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and watching gameshows on television. Alta was a master of crocheting. She crocheted a variety of pieces, including tablecloths and doilies, for her family that will be treasured for generations to come. Alta was a member of the Iberia Senior Center Board.
She was a devoted Christian and took pleasure in talking about her religion with others. Alta was an active member of Hickory Point Baptist Church in Iberia, where she spent many years teaching Sunday School, assisting with their VBS program, and was a member of the church choir.
She is survived by her three children, Steven Beal and wife Carolyn of Iberia, Dorothy White and husband Darrell of Towanda, Kansas, and Roger Beal and wife Lisa of Augusta, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Billy, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Alberta Knowles.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Warren Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held in Hickory Point Cemetery in Iberia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia Senior Center.
