Andrew Bielecki, age 91, of Meta, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at his home. He was born in Shoaf, Pennsylvania, on February 4, 1925, son of the late John and Anna (Szaflarski) Bielecki. On October 17, 1953, in Meta, Andrew married Mildred Koerber, who survives.

During World War II Andrew honorably served in the United States Army where he was stationed in both England and France.

Andrew loved baseball and played on his hometown team with his brothers. While in the service he played on the Army base teams. He was an avid Pittsburg Pirates and Steelers fan.

He was a skillful bowler at Rainbow Lanes for many years and enjoyed playing cards. His fresh garden and hand-picked walnuts were appreciated by many. From 1955 until his retirement in 1983, Andrew and Mildred owned and operated Bielecki's Grocery in Meta.

Andrew was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

In addition to his loving wife, Mildred Bielecki, he is survived by three children, Ron Bielecki and wife Sue of Jefferson City, Tamra Bowman and husband Don of Charleston, South Carolina, and Melinda McVay and husband Paul of Warrensburg; two grandchildren, Matthew Bielecki and Lauren Bielecki; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly Kleindienst, and Shane Bowman; four step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Bielecki.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and eight sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Fr. Joby Thomas will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, at the church.
