Anna Ruth (Shelton) McDonald, age 93, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Brumley on September 4, 1931, daughter of the late Gilbert and Ada (Condra) Shelton.  On February 23, 1957, in St. Louis, Anna was united in marriage to Charles Freddie McDonald, who preceded her in death on May 29, 2005.

Anna was a faithful follower of Christ from the day of her acceptance.  She was a devoted and longtime member of Brumley Baptist Church.  She made each family member feel extra special on their birthday by preparing their favorite meal and cake - chicken and dumplings won out 95% of the time.  Anna took great pleasure with cooking and hosting countless church luncheons.  In her spare time, she enjoyed attending garage sales and spending time working in her garden.

Anna worked tirelessly in making a beautiful and loving home for her family.  Anna was thought of as a second mother to many.  She was also a scout mother for several years.

Those left to treasure her memory are her two sons, James Dallas (Dianna) McDonald and John Charles McDonald; daughter, Joan Marie (Brian) Wright; four grandchildren, Jessi (Kevin) Rettle, Jeanne (Nick) Guenther, Chris McDonald, and Billy McDonald; great-grandchildren, Nick, Josh, Christian, Mason, Shelby, Damon, Finn, and Leo; and her faithful canine companion, Wally.  A host of family and friends will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her two sons, Ronald McDonald and Joseph McDonald; sister, Inah Lou Wilson; and brother, Glen Shelton.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, at Brumley Baptist Church with Brian Duncan officiating.  Interment will be held in Iberia Cemetery.
