Arlie T. Binkley, age 93, of Spring Garden, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at his home. He was born in the Eugene area on May 20, 1914, a son of the late Samuel T. and Minnie May (Hinds) Binkley. On August 8, 1934 he was married to Dixie Pauline Bontrager, who preceded him in death on October 2, 1995.
Arlie was a truck driver for most of his life. He enjoyed farming, mowing his yard during the summer and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Eugene Christian Church.
Those who survive him include: four children, James L. Binkley of Spring Garden, Jerry D. Binkley and wife Arlene of Jefferson City, Paula J. Musick and husband Dink of Spring Garden and Don G. Binkley and wife Carol of Spring Garden; twelve grandchildren, Michael Binkley and wife Jeanne, Shelly Denkler, Bradley Binkley and wife Amy, Travis Binkley and wife Crystal, Scott Binkley, Dale Binkley and wife Ronda, Diana Kempker and husband Dan, Donette Kempker and husband Mark, Melanie Foley and husband Jim, Michele Kempker and husband Doug, Nicolas Binkley and Steven Binkley; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, two sisters-in-law, Wanda Graham and husband Bob of Eugene and Evelyn Binkley of Eugene.
Four brothers, Logan, Lon, Mert and Mark Binkley and two sisters, Margaret Hahn Taggart and Anna May Dawson, also preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. Alan McNeely will officiate. Interment will be in Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
