Arthur S. "Abb" Skaggs, age 95, of Iberia, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia on December 4, 1915, son of the late Clyde and Mamie (Hale) Skaggs.
Abb served as a Corporal in the United States Army from June 23, 1941, until his discharge on December 3, 1945. During his time in service he was in the Coast Artillery and served in South America, Panama, New Guinea, Philippines, and Japan.
After the service he worked on a ranch and olive farm in Orville, California until he retired in 1980. In 1994 he moved back to Iberia.
He is survived by two sisters, Grace Groves of Iberia and Irene Ward of Grover; one brother, Jim Skaggs of Crocker; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Argus Skaggs.
A private service will be held at a later date.
His body has been cremated under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
