Barbara “Barb” Joan McDaniel, age 81, of Holts Summit, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Iberia, on January 20, 1945, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Jane (Duncan) Dake. On September 4, 1964, in Jefferson City, Barb was united in marriage to Cecil Jackson McDaniel, who preceded her in death on March 22, 1997.
Barb worked at Gates Manufacturing and later at Generations Childcare in Holts Summit, where she devoted many years to lovingly caring for children with patience and kindness. She was a faithful member of Life House Church in Holts Summit, where her faith was an important part of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Marsha) McDaniel and Tim McDaniel; daughter, Valerie (David) Fowler; seven grandchildren, Alisha Gibson, Zachary McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, Makhayla McDaniel, Austin McDaniel, Zephaniah McDaniel and Britton Fowler; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly (Danny) Pendleton and Becky (Thomas) Buckley; two brothers, Richie (Mary) Dake and Floyd Dake; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Myrel Dake, Rosie Rowden, Bonnie Pendleton, Andrew Dake, Donna Dake, Pauline Humphrey, Darrell Dake and Mary Sue Dake; and two granddaughters, Meggan Fowler and Miriah McDaniel.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 27, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, with Monty Roark officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Dake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Dake Cemetery.
