Betty Maxine (Gilliam) Duncan, age 84, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at her home. She was born in Miller County on March 7, 1934, daughter of the late Claude and Verna (Wooliver) Gilliam. On September 29, 1951, in Tuscumbia, Betty married Emel Cordell Duncan, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1989.

Betty was a wonderful baker who also enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a life-long resident of Miller County and throughout her life she has seen a lot of changes and developments take place around her.

Betty was a loving mother and wife who took great pride in being a homemaker for her family and was a devoted member of Mt. Union Church. She was a guiding spirit to her family and others in the community.

She is survived by six children, David Duncan and wife Barb of Eldon, Melvin Douglas Duncan and wife Glenda of Brumley, Brian Duncan and wife Ragenia of Brumley, Lisa DeAnn McDowell and husband Richard of Brumley, James Robert Duncan and wife Monica of Iberia, and Christie Ann Duncan of Iberia; daughter-in-law, Mary Duncan; fifteen grandchildren, Wendy, Jeremy, Melody, Joshua, Adam, Holly, Nicole, Brian, Chelsae, Michael, Coltin, Caitlin, Hunter, Kyle, and Jacy; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Edwin E. Duncan, five brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m., with service immediately following at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, December 12, at Mt. Union Church near Iberia with Bro. Robert Dover officiating. Interment will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery.
