Bill Verle Blankenship, age 79, of Iberia, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Maries County on November 1, 1932, son of the late Elmer and Bertie (Burnham) Blankenship. On July 5, 1966, in Brumley, Bill married Alice Marie Blankenship, who preceded him in death on April 18, 2010.
Bill honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by one sister, Nina Pendleton of Dixon; several nieces, nephews, family, and friends; and his special companion, his dog Skip.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Red Cemetery near Dixon. Manuel Seaton will officiate.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Red Cemetery.
