Bill F. Tetley, age 96, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James. He was born in Flint, Michigan, on August 2, 1926, son of the late Clarence Gilbert and Mary Jane (Murdock) Tetley. On September 27, 1975, in Brumley, Bill was united in marriage to Rebecca "Becky" Jeffries, who survives at the home.
Staff Sgt. Bill Tetley had a distinguished military career in the United States Air Force from September 2, 1948, until his honorable discharge on March 31, 1967. He served as an airplane mechanic and in the bombing and navigation systems during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the victory Medal, the Army Occupation Medal from Germany, The American Theater Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
After retiring from the Air Force, Bill owned and operated a dog kennel for numerous years in addition to working as a lineman. He took great pride in caring for his land in the country he loved. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church at Osage Beach.
In addition to his loving wife, Becky Tetley, he is also survived by his daughter, Lisa (Dave) McMillian; four granddaughters, Malari Ahart, Rylie McMillian, Lexie McMillian, and Emmy McMillian; sister, Kay Cathy; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Tetley, Roland Tetley, Clarence Tetley, Mildred Tetley, Emory Tetley, Evelyn Fletes, and Bonnie Pigman.
Bill's wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
