Bill Joe Whittle, age 92, of Brumley, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Miller County on August 30, 1927, son of the late Otto Everett and Sarah Ann (Stone) Whittle.
Bill honorably served in the United States Army during WWII. He raised cattle and was a talented carpenter. He operated several businesses throughout his life. Bill was a member of the Iberia Masonic Lodge and Brumley Christian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Charlie Whittle (Beverly) of Eldon, Joe Whittle (Michelle Hall) of Eldon, two daughters, Betsy Phillips of Brumley and Linda Whittle of California; grandchildren, Amy Barnfield, Charles Walker, Shanna Davis, Amanda Jo, and Brennan Messer; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Billy; two sons, Allan Whittle and Alvin Whittle; grandson, Joshua Whittle; and five siblings, Vivian Whittle, Pearl Wood, Edna Fletcher, Elmer Whittle, and Harold Whittle.
A private family graveside service will be held in Gott Cemetery near Ulman with Connie Wickham officiating.
