Billie Jean Grady, age 89, of Iberia, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Iberia, on June 5, 1926, son of the late Walter and Martha "Queen" (Wilson) Grady.
On November 5, 1949, in Benton, Arkansas, Billie married Rose Mary Lovell, who survives at the home. Billie and his wife, Rose Mary, lived in Granite City, Illinois for 62 years before returning to Iberia. He retired in 1987 from Laclede Steel after 35 years of employment in their Alton and Madison, Illinois locations.
Billie enjoyed spending time with his family tinkering around doing projects and fishing.
In addition to his loving wife, Rose Mary, he is also survived by one daughter, Ida Jean Morris and husband Dennis of Iberia; three sons, John Walter Grady and wife Jean of Iberia, Billy Dean Grady and wife Vickie of Granite City, Illinois, and Steven Dale Grady and wife Denise of Alton, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Denny, Angie, Rachel, Andy, Matt, Jesse, Angie R. and Chris; and eleven great-grandchildren, Zack, Cody, Dylan, Brandon, Drake, Kailey, Grant, Trent, Allie, Jordan, and Claire with another on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Leslie S. Darr, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
