Billy Joe McDowell, age 66, of Eldon, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.  He was born in Tuscumbia on March 13, 1959, son of the late Lynn and Lois (Luttrell) McDowell.  On September 8, 1983, in Ulman, Billy was united in marriage to Margie Lois McComb, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2006.

Billy retired from Bear Creek Valley Golf Course after 17 years of employment.  He took pleasure in fishing, hunting deer and squirrels and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the outdoors.  He was a member of Honey Springs Baptist Church in Ulman.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Humphrey; son, Christopher Humphrey; five grandchildren, Timothy McDowell, Billly McDowell, Ezekiel Humphrey, Brianna Humphrey, and Christopher Humphrey; three siblings, Lois McComb, Mary Jeffries, and Elizabeth Mictchell; and a host of family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Margie McDowell; and his parents, Lynn and Lois McDowell, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Myrtle McDowell.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, July 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Dennis Nichols officiating.  Interment will be held in Hawkins Cemetery in Brumley.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Billy Joe McDowell Memorial Fund.
