Bobby Eugene Nixdorf, age 83, of Iberia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born in Granite City, Illinois, on August 20, 1930, son of the late Charles and Bertha Nixdorf. On August 20, 1950, Bob married Rayma Jean Sooter, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2014.

Bob became a member of Fairview Christian Church in November of 1947. He became a Deacon at the church on March 6, 1977, and then went on to become the adult Sunday School teacher for several years.

He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. After his service he entered the civil service in Fort Leonard Wood from 1954 until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement, Bob continued working on his farm.

He is survived by one son, Marvin Nixdorf and wife Kelly of Ulman; one adopted daughter (granddaughter), Barbara Cottrell and husband Mike of Eldridge; four granddaughters, Anna Hill, Lindsey Hill, Paige Cottrell, all of Eldridge and Beverly Nixdorf of Houston, MO; three grandsons, Bobby Dale Nixdorf and wife Melanie of Iberia, Daniel Lee Nixdorf and wife Amanda of Brumley, and Mark Nixdorf of Iberia; three great-grandchildren, Heston, Chloe, and Joseph; and host of dear family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by three sons, Mike Nixdorf, Bobby Nixdorf, and Brian Nixdorf

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16, at Fairview Christian Church near Iberia. Pastor Randy Stohs and Pastor Mike Allen will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at Fairview Christian Church.
