Obituary

Bobby Jesse Smith, age 79, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, at the Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Manhattan, Kansas, on December 30, 1926, son of Harry and Emma (Hasenbank) Smith. On December 11, 1970, in Junction City, Kansas, he was married to Emma Lottie (Davis) Halderman, who survives.

He was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II. He lived in Wamego, Kansas, before moving to Sedalia where he lived for 20 years and then relocated to Tuscumbia. He loved to read, play cards and dominos, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Other survivors include 22 children, Melvin Smith, Bonnie Smith, Richard Smith, Daniel Miller, Adelia Miller, Allen Miller, Roy Halderman, David Halderman, Larry Halderman, Lonnie Halderman, Stanley Halderman, Fritz Halderman, Jr., Minnie Martin, Alma Sanford, Geraldine Hasenbank, Linda Ortiz, Jimmie McNown, Jonnie McNown, Debra Royal, Tamara Dotson, Debra Flatt, and Edward Dirkson; one brother, Ronald Smith, one sister, Harriett Einfelt; 60 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

His parents; two brothers; and one sister preceded him in death

A private family service was held on Sunday, September 24, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating.
