IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bobby Gene
Walters
November 2, 1940 – June 18, 2025
Bobby Gene Walters, age 84, of Dixon, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his home. He was born in Crocker on November 2, 1940, son of the late John and Ethel (Hedrick) Walters. On June 28, 1958, Bobby married the love of his life, Janet Carol Shelton, who survives at their home. They shared over 67 years of marriage together and were blessed with three daughters, Lisa, Carol, and Teresa.
Early in his life, Bobby made an important decision where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized by Mr. Nickleson on August 31, 1948, at Tavern Creek in Crocker. His faith helped him throughout the rest of his life during some of the darkest times in his life and some of the happiest times as well. Bobby and Janet were faithful members of the High Point Church of God in Dixon.
Bobby was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family. He worked with his dad hauling gravel and dirt for surrounding towns. In 1960 Bobby went to work for Delmar Capps as a car salesman until 1970. He continued his passion of selling cars when Bobby and his friend, Delmar Capps, purchased the Ford Dealership in 1975 in Dixon. They later sold their business in Dixon and bought the Ford Dealership in Lebanon. They went on to have a great friendship.
He planned and designed several homes in Dixon. Later in life he started a dump truck company called BJW Trucking. He also owned tractor trailer trucks that traveled state to state. Bobby has spent many hours with his oldest grandson, Lance McKinnon, building a business selling and buying cars together.
Bobby continued his love for buying and selling vehicles while traveling from state to state to different dealership locations. He enjoyed attending auctions where he met fellow salesmen and enjoyed horse shows and truck pulls. Bobby took pleasure in taking trips to Branson to watch shows and see the local attractions. The most important thing he enjoyed was watching his grandchildren play sports. Bobby, Janet, Justin, and Ida never missed a game to see all the grandkids play sports together. They traveled countless miles together.
In addition to his loving wife, Janet Walters, he is also survived by three daughters, Carol (Mike) McKinnon, Lisa (Danny) Miller, and Teresa (Troy) Stricklan; six grandchildren, Lance McKinnon, Nicholas Miller, Sarah Krull, Britny Washburn, Taylor Ortiz, and Tanner Stricklan; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Sharon (Dale) Routh, Tommy (Donna) Walters, and Ronnie (Janice) Walters; sister, Patsy Brumley; sister-in-law, Wanda Walters; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Walters; brother, Bill Walters; and brother-in-law, Emmett Brumley.
