September 1, 1936 – December 18, 2021
Bobby Dean Wilson, age 85, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was born in Miller County on September 1, 1936, son of the late Leonard and Frankie Dean (Dake) Wilson. On January 1, 1956, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Eldon, Bobby was united in marriage to Nina Rose Brown, who preceded him on September 29, 2020.
In 1955, Bobby enlisted with the Air Force. During his service he was stationed in North Africa, Italy, Thailand, and was deployed for two tours during Vietnam. Bob and Nina were blessed with 2 sons, Ricky and William. Bobby retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant after 20 years of honorable service for his country that he loved.
After his service he worked for M.O.C.A for 18 years. Bob was an active member of the American Legion Post 105 and the VFW Post 6167. In addition to volunteering for these organizations, he also assisted at the local food pantry. He was dearly loved by his family. He loved spending time with family and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Brumley Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Ricky Wilson and William Wilson; five grandchildren, Raechel Pritchett (Josh), Joshua Wilson (Natashia), Lisa Wilson, William "Billy" Wilson (Jess), and Ricky Wilson; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Wilson, two sisters, Edna Humphrey and Margaret Cochran; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife of 64 years, Nina Wilson, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Andrew, George, Jewel, Spurgeon, and Leonard; sister, Ruby Mees; infant sister, Lois; one granddaughter, Stephanie Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home with Warren Mitchell officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Union Cemetery near Iberia.
