Obituary

Brenda June Ewan, age 75, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Granite City, Illinois on June 5, 1942, daughter of the late Belvia and Thelma Ruby (Wickham) Boyd. On February 18, 1967, in Santa Barbara, California, Brenda married Alvin Willard Ewan, who preceded her in death on May 30, 2008.

Brenda attended grade school at New Brown Country School which was located 7 miles northeast of Iberia. She graduated high school in 1961 from Iberia R-V High School. After graduation, Brenda moved to the state of California where she lived for eight years. She was employed for seven years as a counter girl and assistant manager at a dry cleaner and later as a motel manager in Santa Barbara.

In 1970, Brenda returned to Missouri and worked as a certified nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth Care Center for seven years and also worked at LB Manufacturing in Iberia.

Brenda was baptized on December 3, 1978, and was a member of Victory Hill Baptist Church in Dixon.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Joseph Wilkes and wife Meranda of Crocker and Jessica Elam of Crocker; five great-grandchildren, Kristen, Easton, Mersaddie, Hunter, and Blake; one brother, Roger Boyd of Dixon; two sisters, Rhonda McCutcheon of Armstrong and Marilyn Lawson of Tuscumbia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lea Shannon Wilkes; and two brothers, Vernon and Virgil Boyd.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Dick Lawson Cemetery near Dixon.
