Brenda Lea Helton, age 69, of Wardsville formerly of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Richland, on August 14, 1956, daughter of the late Andy and Goldie (Becker) Wall. On September 1, 1990, Brenda was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Helton, who survives at their home.
Brenda worked as an office clerk at Iberia R-V for 28 years and was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Brenda was known for her big smile and sweet nature. She loved her family, friends, reading, gardening, traveling and most important of all was her love for Jesus. Her unwavering faith took her through any challenge life threw her way. Her testimony will live on in the lives of many.
In addition to her husband, Joe Helton, she is also survived by three daughters, Stacy Smelcer of Lake Ozark, Amy Winder (Eric Berendzen) of Jefferson City, and Jamie Zak (Matt Papen) of Nixa; grandchildren, Brooke Prather, Brett Bales, Bennett Zak, Gavyn Smelcer, Sydney Smelcer, Kelsey Winder, Addy Winder, Avery Winder, Troy Papen, and Ashton Papen; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hayden, Huxley, and Harmony Prather; four siblings, Wilda Leach of Iberia, Karla (Bob) Tannehill of Union, Jeannie (John) Matukewicz of Cassville, and Donna Shalbot of Iberia; her beloved dog, Stella; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Wall; one granddaughter, one nephew, and two nieces.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Monday, April 13, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with David Newton officiating. Interment will be held in Stokes Cemetery near Van Cleve.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Stokes Cemetery.
