Brenda Sue Owens, age 65, of Iberia passed away along with her husband, James Leroy Owens, on Friday, January 31, 2025, due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

She was born in Iberia on March 28, 1959, daughter of the late Jennings and Stella (McDowell) Humphrey.  On June 26, 1975, at Honey Springs Church in Brumley, Brenda was united in marriage to James Leroy Owens.

Brenda had a talent for knitting and a passion for working on puzzles, playing dice, and tending to her garden.  She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs' fan.  She held a special place in her heart for her dogs and enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.   Brenda devoted herself to her family.  She treasured and welcomed their company, especially her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy in life.

She is survived by her daughter, Tonda (Nicholas) Casey; two sons, Yancey (Kathrine) Owens and James "Gregory" Owens; five grandchildren, Sofia Owens, Addalynn Casey, Katelynn Casey, Kaprice Owens, and Noah Owens; four siblings, Betty Humphrey, Paul Humphrey, James Humphrey, and Rose Eatherton; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Brenda and Leroy were blessed to have a host of special loved ones, who they thought of as family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennings and Stella Humphrey and four brothers, George, Dave, Ronnie, and Donald.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 7, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
