Obituary

Bro. Charles "Charlie" Caldwell, age 88, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Caldwell County on April 13, 1929, son of the late Chancy Harrison and Susan (Floyd) Caldwell. On May 23, 1952, Charlie was united in marriage to Earline Frances Thompson, who preceded him in death on July 30, 2016.

Charlie honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service time in the Army, Charlie became a minister for various churches in the Central Missouri area. In 2003, he was awarded the Baptist Small Church Pastor of the Year for Missouri. He also worked as a substitute mail carrier for Tuscumbia and Ulman for many years and was a board member at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center from 1989 to 2013. Charlie was an avid gardener and a devoted member of the Tuscumbia Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Norris "Buzz" Caldwell of Tuscumbia; two daughters, Priscilla Visser of Tuscumbia and Janice Keefover of Kansas City; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Watkins and Ruby Anderson;
several great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

In addition to his wife, Earline, he was also preceded in death by three daughters, Rhonda Caldwell Jeffries, Mamie Caldwell, and Pam Baxter; one son, Mark Caldwell; five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 10, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, at the Tuscumbia Baptist Church with Bro. David Visser and Bro. Warren Mitchell officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Nichols officiating.
