Byrna Mae Fancher, age 65, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, following a brief illness. She was born in Iberia on December 23, 1941, daughter of Byron and Elvera Fancher.
She graduated from Wichita High School East in 1961. She lived most of her adult life in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked for 31 years at St. Francis/Via Christi Memorial Hospital and at the Hyatt Hotel for seven years. She was a lifetime member of the national Cookie Cutters Club and authored, A Guide To Hallmark Cookie Cutters. In 2002, she moved to Norman. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was active in the adult choir and the senior adult choir, the Bethelaires, as well as her Sunday School class. She also volunteered at the Norman Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her mother, Elvera Kloeppel and husband, Frank of Brinktown; one sister, Donna Nielsen and husband, Jack of Norman, OK; two brothers, Spencer Fancher of Wichita, KS, and Shawn Fancher of Brinktown. She is also survived by her nieces, Tracy Naylor and husband, Greg and their children, Blake and Payton of San Angelo, TX, Tara Nielsen and her son, Tanner of Norman, OK, Rebecca Nielsen of Dallas, TX, and Amanda Fancher of Derby, KS; a nephew, Anthony Fancher of Wichita, KS; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Bethel Baptist Church in Norman. Rev. James Ehrlich will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, at Livingston Cemetery near Iberia. Bro. Stan Way will officiate.
