Obituary

Carl "Doc" Sylvester Roberts, Jr., age 94, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his home.  He was born in Tallahassee, Florida on January 13, 1931, son of the late Carl Roberts, Sr. and Sybil Viola (Huey) Roberts.  Doc was united in marriage to Linda Fay Holeyfield in 1981.

He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Doc was an Eagle Scout and achieved the Order of the Arrow, a distinguished honor within the scouting community.  He was member of Brays Advent Christian Church, Iberia Masonic Lodge, Moolah Shriners, Scottish Rite, and the American Legion.

To his patients in the rural area, he was respectfully known as Doc Roberts.  He started his medical career in 1960 in Belleview, Florida where he worked until 1979 when he moved to Iberia.   Once he arrived in Iberia, he established Roberts Clinic which he operated until his retirement in 2022.

As a pillar of the community, he faithfully aided and treated countless patients throughout his distinguished career. His dedication to his profession and care for others made a lasting impact on those around him.  Beyond his love for medicine, he also enjoyed bowling and golfing.  During his leisure time, he could often be found at the Dixon Golf Course playing a round of golf.

In addition to his loving wife, Linda Roberts; he is also survived by six children including, Mike (Becky) Brown, John (Teresa) Brown, and Laura Roberts; grandchildren, Kayla (Sawyer) Hawkins, Lindsey (Kyle) Smith, Lauren Brown, and Sophia Brown; two step-grandchildren, Courtney (Dan) Courtney and Mason Gilliam; great-grandchild, Hayes Hawkins; special friend, Marylin Vellenga; brother-in-law, John and Louane Holeyfield; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Earl) Guidry and Nina (Leland) Sandfort; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Roberts; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Lota Holeyfield; and brother-in-law, LaVon Smith.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Memorial Service immediately following at 6 p.m., on Friday, July 11 at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.  The family invites everyone to join in honoring his remarkable legacy and the great impact he had on his community.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that friends, former patients, and all those whose lives were touched by Doc share their memories and stories. These remembrances will serve as a lasting tribute to his life's work.
