Carleen S. Swanson, age 100, departed this life on surrounded by her family at her home in Mary's Home on Monday, April 27, 2026. She was born on April 22, 1926, in Knoxville, Tennessee to C. Guy and Grace Stephenson. On June 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Oliver F. Swanson and together they had 3 children, S. Douglas (Debbie) of Colorado Springs, G. Frederick, and Martha (Jim) Witt of Tuscumbia.

Carleen is survived by three grandchildren, Derek Swanson (Rebeeca) of Germany with their two children, Owen and Oliver, Stephen Swanson (Melissa) and their two children, Aubrey and Spencer of Colorado Springs, and Susan Witt (David) and daughter, Elliana of Tuscumbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that are scattered around the country.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver and her son G. Frederick, along with her siblings, Douglas, Lillian, and Francis and their spouses.

Per Carleen’s request, her body will be donated to Washington University Medical School in St. Louis for research purposes
