Carolyn L. Bell, age 82, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Osage Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Vincennes, Indiana, on February 20, 1944, daughter of the late Charlie and Helen (Chekewne) Morcenal. On May 20, 1989, Carolyn was united in marriage to Irvin “Sonny” Bell, who survives.
Carolyn found joy in sewing and treasured the moments she shared with her cherished family and friends. She was also a proud member of the military order of the Cootie Club affiliated with the VFW in St. James, where she valued the fellowship, service, and lasting friendships she shared with others.
She served as MOCA Supreme District 4 Hospital Commissioner for 16 years, keeping up with hospital volunteer hours for 6 states. Her records were excellent. She also served as the Grand of Missouri Hospital Chairman and Momma Clown for all those years and probably more.
In addition to her commitment to the MOCA, she served as VFWA District 2 President, and as VFWA District 2 Treasurer for 5 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Vietnam Veterans of America Auxiliary. She was a task maker when it came to hospital work but was also an extremely dedicated and loving individual.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted and active member of the First Christian Church in Iberia, where she formed meaningful connections within her church family.
In addition to her loving husband, Irvin “Sonny” Bell, she is also survived by her son, Ronald “Ron” Nash; stepdaughters, Tammy and Terry; five grandchildren; sister, Cynthia Politte; brother, Keith Bechackma; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Joseph Bell, and brother, David Spray.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Monday, June 15, 2026, at First Christian Church of Iberia with Stan Way officiating. Interment will be held in Iberia Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
