Cecil M. Shelton, 83, of Iberia, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born in Kellyville, Oklahoma, on March 28, 1926, son of the late Alvie and Pearl (Plemmons) Shelton. Cecil was married to Vennie Ann Goss, who preceded him in death in 1995.

Cecil served in the United States Army during WWII in Germany. After the war, Cecil lived in Iberia and worked at Ft. Leonard Wood, later he moved to Kansas City to work for Paxton Lumber Company until his retirement. Cecil moved back to Iberia in 2004.

He is survived by one sister, Veta Humphrey of Iberia; one granddaughter, Adena Shelton of Kansas City; three grandsons, Markco Duncan, Monico Johnson, and Mathew Shelton all of Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lucinda Shelton on January 23, 1983; three brothers, Louie, Hubert, and Glen Shelton; and two sisters, Altha Mae Shackelford and Reba Allen.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in the Iberia Cemetery.
