Obituary

Celia Catherine (Buechter) Luebbert, age 91, passed away in Loveland, Colorado on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born and raised in St. Anthony, MO., by her parents, Henry and Veronica Buechter. Mrs. Luebbert was united in marriage on October 6, 1945, at St. Anthony Church, to Leo Aloysius Luebbert, and to this union six children were born.

Survivors include two sons, Father Philip Luebbert of St. Ann's Church, Plattsburg, MO and David Luebbert and his wife Karen of Independence; and three daughters, Annette Newell of Jefferson City, Carol Barrow and her husband Scott of Loveland, Colorado, and Lisa Luebbert of Denver, Colorado; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones.

Celia was preceded in death by her husband Leo on September 6, 2007; her parents, Henry and Veronica Buechter; her daughter, Marilyn Meyer; two brothers, Joseph Buechter and John Buechter; and two sisters, Josephine Herx and Bonita Kleffner.

Mrs. Luebbert was known for her expertise in quilting and sewing; her baked fruit pies and famous Santa Claus cookies were the talk of the neighborhood. Her strongest desire in life, in her own words, was to be "a good mom." She and Leo did their utmost, foregoing many pleasures and extras so that their six children would be raised to become faithful Catholic men and women. Celia welcomed every visitor and had concern for everyone she could who was burdened with problems. Earth lost and heaven gained a big heart on Mother's Day.

In her final years at the assisted living facility in Loveland, for the first time Mrs. Luebbert had access to cable television. She fell in love with the Eternal Word Television Network (Catholic station) and particularly Mother Angelica, its founder. After Mother Angelica died on Easter Sunday, it just seems fitting, viewed through the spectacles of Faith, for Celia to pass away on Ascension Sunday and Mother's day.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at Holy Guardian Angels Church in Brinktown. Fr. Philip Luebbert will officiate. Interment will be in Guardian Angels' Cemetery in Brinktown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, May 17, at Holy Guardian Angels Church in Brinktown.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Catholic Relief Services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home.
