Charles Edward Barnett, age 69, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Crocker on January 22, 1947, son of the late Jean Edward and Marjorie Louise (Whittle) Barnett. On January 6, 1977, in Fairbanks, Alaska, Charles married Laura Jane Wesolak, who survives at the home.
During the time Charles lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, he worked as a fireman. He was later employed as a Union Iron Worker and was also a member of the Carpenter Union Local 1243. Charles was also an auctioneer and served as president of the Iberia Saddle Club.
He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church near Iberia and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Eugene Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his loving wife, Laura Barnett, he is also survived by three sons, Kevin Barnett and Amy of Iberia, Shane Barnett and wife Tammy of Branson, and Justin Barnett and wife Jessica of Iberia; nine grandchildren, Cole, Devin, Trace, Dakota, Lacey, Lyndsey, Levi, Julie, and Jorja; one brother, Carl Barnett and wife Gail of Iberia; two sisters, Charlene Parker and husband Bob of Oklahoma and Tammy Romans and husband Pat of Anchorage, Alaska; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Troy Barnett and Carlos Barnett.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Church near Iberia. Pastor Lloyd Wood will officiate. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
