Obituary

Charles "Bud" Hubert Phillips, Jr., age 65, of Brumley, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 5, 1949, son of the late Charles Hubert and Evelyn Elizabeth (Dorothy) Phillips. On May 7, 1983, in Arlington, Washington, Charles married Diane Laviese Bell, who preceded him in death on April 18, 1998.

Charles served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on May 14, 1971. He was a loving father, husband, and brother whose greatest treasure in life was his family. He was an avid fisherman. Charles was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed spending time restoring his 1965 Ford.

He is survived by four children, Clayton, Angela, Jonathan, and Christopher; two sisters, Shirley Baysinger and Evelyn Ruiz; five grandchildren, Clayton, Antonio, Christian, Tory, and Jessica; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Day.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. B.J. Thelander will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley.
