Charles Johnson, age 78, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.  He was born in Belle on January 1, 1947, son of the late Sam and Edna Pearl (Davidson) Johnson.  On June 24, 1967, Charles was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Helton, who survives at their home.

Charles was a life-long farmer, who loved riding horses, trading knives and guns, and tending to his cattle farm.  In addition to working various jobs as a heavy equipment operator, he also worked for Miller County and Maries County as a road grader operator and retired from Circle A after 13 years in hay operation.

The greatest love and joy in Charles' life was his family, especially being "Papa" to his granddaughter, Avalyn.  He was a member of Wheeler Christian Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Sue Johnson, he is also survived by his daughter, Kristle Anderson and husband Jeremy; granddaughter, Avalyn Anderson; sister, Minnie Branson and husband Bill; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Pearl Johnson, and two brothers, Don Johnson and Lowell Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Elton Dake and Larry Neal officiating.  Interment will be held in Wheeler Cemetery near Iberia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
