Obituary

Charles Lindbergh Pendleton, age 87, of Dixon, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was born in Hancock on June 17, 1927, son of the late Pansy (Wilson) and Jeff Pendleton. Charles married Nina Blankenship on August 8, 1948 at the Waynesville courthouse.

He worked at the Department of Army Defense at Fort Leonard Wood until his retirement on November 2, 1982. After retirement he worked on his farm and enjoyed fixing tractors, spending time with family, especially singing to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going to church. He loved music, farming, and giving the kids rides on his tractor.


Charles is survived by his wife Nina of 66 years; three sons, Danny (Bev) Pendleton, Sammy (Sharon) Pendleton, Timmy (Merrie) Pendleton; five daughters Debbie (Kenneth) Dake, Charlotte (Dick) Wilde, Patti (Marty) Bowden, Alice (Kenny) Loethen, and Jamie (Jimmy) Cochran; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter D'Ann Dake, great grand-daughter, Kinley Lundquist, four sisters and three brothers.


Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Manuel Seaton and Bro. Freddie Earp will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Dick Lawson Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 13, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Hospice Compassus.
