Obituary

Cheryl Lynn Alderman-Holmes, age 62, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a lengthy battle with lymphoma.  She was born on March 12, 1959, in San Manuel, Arizona, daughter of the late Mark L. and Delores (Haley) Alderman.

Cheri graduated from high school in 1977, in Tuscumbia.  She later went to work for the Missouri Water Patrol, where she met and married William Dean Holmes, whom with she had two children, Jana Delores Kasey Holmes (Tyler Rowden), and Cory Dean Holmes (Jessie) both of Tuscumbia.

Cheri had a fun-loving, spirited personality and thoroughly loved family gatherings and socializing with friends.  One of her greatest joys was in sharing fun activities with her grandchildren. She also loved animals, a variety of which she cared for on her farm.

In addition to her son and daughter, Cheri is survived by one brother, George Thomas "Bud" Alderman of Tuscumbia; one sister, Debra Sue Alderman Rayhart, of Lee's Summit; ten grandchildren, Kayle Rowden, Liam Rowden, Noah Rowden, Isaac Rowden, Ty Holmes, Stella Holmes, Deacon Holmes, Aiden, Ive, and Tanner; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Cheri was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church, whom she dearly loved.  The love and support they provided her during this difficult time is greatly appreciated by her and family.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann Alderman Musick, and two brothers, Robert "Bob" L. Alderman and Mark Allen Alderman.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Saturday, February 19, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Charlie Worstell officiating.  Interment will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Zion Christian Church or Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
