Christine Luebbering, age 95, of Jefferson City, formerly of St. Thomas, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at Adams Street Place Care Center in Jefferson City. She was born in St. Thomas on July 29, 1913, daughter of Christopher and Anna (Ortbals) Strope. On November 20, 1935, in St. Thomas, Christine married Henry Joseph Luebbering, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1994.

She was a member of St. Ann's Altor Sodality, Legion of Mary, La Sallette Seminary Aid Society, Apostleship of St. Jude, Marianist Mission Society, Over 50 Club, and she also served as the 4H Community Leader for 20 years. Christine was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Luebbering and wife Patricia of St. Thomas and Kenneth Luebbering and wife Robyn Burnett of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Dale Luebbering, Janet Laughlin, Lori Kreutzman, Amy Luebbering, Aric Luebbering, Geoff Luebbering, and Johann Luebbering; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
