Obituary

Clay Witt, age 80, of Montreal, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009, at his home. He was born in Miller County on January 26, 1929, son of the late Clayton and Ollie Elizabeth (Shelton) Witt. On October 12, 1950, in Brumley, Clay married Bertie J. Rodden, who survives at the home.

Clay enjoyed the outdoors and being on the farm. He was employed with several companies in the Lake area and had been retired for the past 18 years. After his retirement, Clay spent his time taking care of the farm and raising cattle. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and of Rodden Church of Christ.

He is also survived by three sons, Daryl Witt and wife Judy of Montreal, Johnny Witt and wife Rita of Brumley, and Ron Witt and wife Karen of Camdenton; five grandchildren, Jason Witt of Brumley, Lora Shreve of Iberia, Jessica Chancellor of Smithton, Mary Labrot of Brumley, and Stephanie Moncrief of Maryville, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gail Witt and Ray Witt; and four sisters, Hazel Robinett, Helen Cochran, Glee Colvin, and Ruby Brumley.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Bill Ferguson will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 will be in Rodden Cemetery near Brumley.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 19, at the funeral home.
