Cynthia Ann Onstott, age 67, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born in St. Louis on November 23, 1943, daughter of the late Dudley and Barbara Ann (Benage) Cothran. On August 24, 1963, in San Antonio, Texas, Cynthia married Glenn Allen Onstott, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1981.
Cynthia graduated from Kirkwood High School and later attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she met her husband Glenn Onstott. After their marriage in 1963, they lived in Straubing, Germany, where Glenn was stationed until 1965. They then returned to Mt. Vernon, Iowa and lived there until they moved to Iberia in 1969.
Cynthia worked at the Bank of Crocker and the Iberia Veterinary Clinic. She later went back to college and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City and graduated with a
Bachelors Degree in Education in May of 1990. She later received her Masters with Honors from William Woods University in Fulton.
She taught Special Education at Iberia R-V from 1990 to 2010, and retired as Director of Special Services in 2010. She was a member of M.S.T.A. and was secretary and treasurer for the Iberia Rural Fire Association for several years.
She enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting, traveling, camping, and visiting with family and friends. Cynthia was a member of the Crocker Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three sons, Gregory Onstott and wife Stella, Kevin Onstott and wife Charlotte, and J.R. Onstott and wife Jessica all of Iberia; one daughter, Deborah Bond and husband Chris of Iberia; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Drew, Wyatt, Wade, Darryn, Vince, Casey, Carson, Kannon, Kale, and Conner; and one sister-in-law, Roxanna Onstott of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
She was also preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Ellen Melsha; two brother-in-laws, Elvin Onstott and Arnold Onstott; and her father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Charlotte (Akers) Onstott.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Crocker Presbyterian Church. Pastor Doug Scott will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
