Dallis Dean Blankenship, age 67, of Iberia, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at his home. He was born in Iberia on September 8, 1940, son of William Guy and Mattie Ophelia (Rowden) Blankenship. On March 19, 1997, in Iberia, he was married to Kathy Ann Prater, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of Vietnam where he served as a medic. He was a member of the Iberia Masonic Lodge #410 AF and AM.
Other survivors include one sister, Linda Hodge of Iberia; one sister-in-law, Edna Mae Blankenship of Iberia; one stepson, Dale Whittle and wife Jamie of Iberia; one stepdaughter, Holli Robinett and husband Shannon of Brumley; two step grandchildren, Paige and Caleb Robinett both of Brumley; three nephews, Cody Hodge and friend Kammi, Chuck Hodge, and Chad Hodge and wife Tabby and children all of Iberia; and one niece, Samantha Hodge of Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dallis Dean Blankenship, Jr.; one daughter, Valerie Kay Blankenship; and one brother, Leroy Blankenship.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Greg McClain will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.
