Dan Wekenborg, age 65, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born in Jefferson City on March 29, 1952, son of Edward and Dean Wekenborg. On April 6, 1974, in St. Thomas, Dan married Nancy Suthoff, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life.
Dan worked in the family Allis Chambers business, Midwest Implement for many years and was currently employed at Midwest Block and Brick. He enjoyed the outdoors both hunting and fishing. Dan had a unique wit and humor that made him known by everyone he met. But more than anything he loved the times spent with his family especially his grandchildren.
Dan was a member St. Thomas Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City and was a former member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in St. Thomas.
In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, he is also survived by his mother Dean Wekenborg; one son, Justin Wekenborg (Jacalyn) of Jefferson City; two daughters, Libby Lock (Aaron) of Jefferson City and Kara Ready (Luke) of Taos; four grandchildren, Maggie and Morgan Lock, Henry Ready, and Gauge Wekenborg; mother-in-law, Celeste Suthoff; brother, Bruce Wekenborg (LuAnne) of Jefferson City; and his in-laws, Sam Suthoff (Shelley), Steve Suthoff (Lucy), Jim Suthoff (Diane), Diane Holzer (Jim), Doug Suthoff (DeAnne), Jeff Suthoff, and Scott Suthoff (Tracy).
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Wekenborg; father-in-law, Andrew Suthoff; and his nephew, David Suthoff.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 18, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Antweiler and Rev. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be held in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, December 17, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Special Learning Center or St. Thomas School.
