Obituary

Daniel "Sap" Lee Libbert, age 67, of Meta, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.  He was born on July 18, 1954, son of Wilfred and Rose (Hake) Libbert.  On June 11, 1977, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Daniel was united in marriage to Darlene Volmert, who survives at their home.

Daniel was known to his family and friends as Danny.  He was a 1974 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia.  He worked a short time for Gentges Roofing before spending most of his career with Goldammer Construction and later worked on his own.  He took great pride in his farm and enjoyed working the land with his three sons, but especially loved teaching his grandchildren, who he cherished, the love for the land and animals.  Danny was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

In addition to his loving wife, Darlene Libbert, he is also survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Loree) Libbert of St. Thomas, Jamie Libbert of Meta, and Josh Libbert of Meta; three grandchildren, Carson Libbert, Chloe Libbert, and Jayden Libbert; three step grandchildren, Gavin Holterman of Freeburg, Kortney Curtman of Lake Ozark, and Allie (Tiffany) Curtman of St. Louis; mother, Rose Libbert of Meta; sister, Sharon Hammann of Meta; five brothers, Larry (Helen) Libbert of Bonnots Mill, Kenneth (Sandra) Libbert of Iberia, Ronald (Debbie) Libbert of Meta, Leon (Debbie) Libbert of Meta, and Kevin (Kristy) Libbert of Meta; sister-in-law, Debbie Libbert of Meta; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Libbert; brother, Randy Libbert; two nephews, Corey Libbert and Nicky Libbert; and brother-in-law, Don Hammann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating.  Interment will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Friday, April 29, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School or the American Cancer Society.
