Darrell "Jimmy" Pemberton, age 66, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born in Iberia on February 20, 1951, son of Orville and Lois (Bond) Pemberton. On June 14, 1969, in Crocker, Jimmy married Judy Lively, who preceded him in death on March 24, 1994. A few years later, on October 18, 1999, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Jimmy married Mary Hix, who survives at the home.

Jimmy was a butcher in the Iberia area for over 50 years. Throughout that time, he worked at various grocery stores and processing plants and also owned and operated Pemberton Processing for many years.

He was a past member of Iberia Lions Club and Bass Masters. Jimmy was baptized at Iberia Church of Christ.

In addition to his loving wife, Mary, and his mother, Lois Pemberton, he is also survived by one son, Rob Pemberton and wife Roberta of Rocky Mount and one daughter, Mindy Lee and husband Greg of Iberia; two step-children, Mike Hinkley of Lebanon and Sara Herren and husband Champ of Marshfield; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Pemberton and Paulette Duncan of Iberia; one sister, Judy Layman and husband Jim of Kirkwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his wife Judy, he was also preceded in death by his father, Orville and grandson, James Pemberton.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Jim Layman officiating. Final inurnment will be in Crocker Cemetery.
