Darren Slone, age 48, of Tuscumbia, passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, May 9, 2015. He was born in Jefferson City on September 13, 1966, son of Danny Ray and Edwina June (Clement) Slone. On July 27, 1996, in Tuscumbia, Darren married Becky Glaze, who survives at the home.
Darren was a 1984 graduate of Tuscumbia High School where he later served as a member of the School Board. He worked at Meek's Lumber for 18 years.
Darren was an avid team roper, hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing in his spare time and was a member of the Eldon Country Club. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church near Tuscumbia.
In addition to his beloved wife, Becky, he is survived by his loving mother, Edwina Slone of Tuscumbia; five children, Jason Glaze and wife Jacqueline, Brittany Toalson and husband Adam, Daniel "Bubby" Slone and wife Sara, Dylan Lyle, and Jordyn Lyle all of Tuscumbia; one brother, Damon Slone of Tuscumbia; two sisters, Dana Ilgenfritz and husband Robert and Debra Rogers and husband Adam both of Tuscumbia; four grandchildren, Cooper and Nataleigh Toalson, Jaylyn and Jagger Glaze; his fifth grandchild is due in November; and grandmother, Juanita Clement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Slone; paternal grandparents, Gladys and Denzel Slone; and maternal grandfather, Ted Clement.
Visitation will be from 12 (noon) to 4 p.m., with final viewing at 4 p.m., on Tuesday, May 12, at the Tuscumbia Christian Church. Service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. at the Tuscumbia High School Gymnasium. Charlie Worstell will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Tuscumbia School Athletic Department.
