David L. Bays, age 76, of Iberia, passed away on November 18, 2015, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born on September 19, 1939, son of the late Otho and Marjorie (Adams) Bays. On June 19, 1964, at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, David married Janet Schipper, who survives at the home.

David served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1980. He worked for the Department of Corrections in Jefferson City for 19 years. David was a member of the Iberia Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Janet, he is also survived by two children, Evangeline Bays-Clark and husband Corey and James Raymond Bays V and wife Janis; one sister, Della Luane Harris; one brother, Dale Lane Bays; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Raymond IV.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, in Seaton Cemetery near Dixon. Paul Prater will officiate.
