David Lee "Dave" Taylor, age 60, of Barnett, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at his home. He was born in California, Missouri on September 16, 1947, the youngest son of Ray and Clara (Hodel) Taylor.
Dave loved spending time with family and friends, going to church picnics and working in his garden. He especially enjoyed working side by side with his son, Davey, and brother Don. Dave and Don continued the Taylor Trucking business that had been started by their parents, Ray and Clara Taylor, in 1947. They were always together, trucking, farming and taking care of their cattle. Always busy, most every day. Then along came "Little Davey". Where you found Dave and Don, you usually found Davey; greasing trucks, in the hayfield or wherever.
Dave always took the time to visit wherever he went. He had many friends. Everyone loved Dave-known as "Big Dave", Uncle Dave or just Dave. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church in Eldon.
Those who survive him include: one son, David Ray Taylor of the home; two step-daughters, Jennill Evers of Eldon and Pennell Mistler of Hillsboro; one sister, Carolyn Stuart and husband Jesse of Dunkirk, Maryland; one brother, Don Taylor and wife Shirley of Eldon; five nieces and nephews, Shane Stuart and wife Tammy, Ray Stuart and wife Renae, Dawn Atkinson and husband Mark, Marlin Stuart and Troy Taylor and wife Shawndra; five great nieces and one great nephew, Sarah and Jesse Stuart, Taylor and Kelsey Atkinson and Clara and Kendall Taylor.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, at Ninth Street Christian Church in Eldon. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment with military honors provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442 will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Davey Taylor.
