Denis Louis Plassmeyer, age 73, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at his home. He was born in St. Elizabeth, on April 10, 1951, son of the late Roman Stephen and Geneva (Schmidt) Plassmeyer. On May 8, 1982, in Benton, Denis was united in marriage to Martha Statler, who survives at their home.
After graduating from high school, he attended CMSU, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1973. After graduating college, Denis student taught at North School in Jefferson City, then taught for the Fatima School District for 14 years. He loved his 12 years at the Meta School then two years at Fatima teaching math at the junior high level.
His passion was farming. As a life-long farmer, Denis possessed a strong work ethic. Denis took great pride in his farm and was dedicated to tending to the day-to-day needs of the land and his Hereford cattle. He had a passion for working on farm machinery, especially his Allis Chalmers tractors. He loved spending time with his close-knit family, creating countless memories throughout the years.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth where he served as lector for over 50 years starting at the age of 16 and taught CCD class for several years.
In addition to his wife, Martha Plassmeyer, he is also survived by one son, Andrew Plassmeyer; four siblings, Daniel (Paula) Plassmeyer, Donna Luebbering, Dominic (Mary) Plassmeyer, and Denise Plassmeyer; and numerous family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Roman and Geneva Plassmeyer, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Harold Luebbering.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 11, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon and Hospice Compassus Chaplain Davey Foley officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence Cemetery, Hospice Compassus of Jefferson City, or the American Cancer Society.
