Dennis Wayne Barnett, age 94, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James. He was born in Iberia on July 23, 1926, son of the late Owen and Della (Whittle) Barnett. On December 30, 1946, in Harrison, Arkansas, Dennis was united in marriage to Jean Grosvenor, who preceded him in death on February 22, 2018.

Dennis served in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge on December 27, 1946. He was a member of the Iberia Masonic Lodge and Iberia VFW Post 6167. He and his wife, Jean, owned and operated Barnett Shoe and Clothing Store in Iberia for over 50 years. Dennis was a devoted and active member of Iberia First Christian Church, serving as the church treasurer for 40 years.

He is survived by one son, Dale Barnett (Debbie) of Dixon; daughter-in-law, Karen Barnett of Brumley; four grandchildren, Angie Luttrell, Sarah Bashore, Kim Hoffmann, and Michael Barnett; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Dwight Barnett; grandson, David Barnett; three brothers, Earl, Elzie, and Jennings Barnett; and two sisters, Imogene Riemensnider and Geraldine Dake.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 7, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home with Elton Dake officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia.
