Obituary

Dorcas Louise Campbell, age 95, of Iberia, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Iberia on October 31, 1910, daughter of Frank and Clara Mae (Groff) Ferguson. On March 11, 1933, in Iberia, she was married to Bennie Burton Campbell, who preceded her in death on December 20, 2000.

She began her teaching career in Brumley and taught for over 40 years retiring from the Alton, Illinois, School District. She and her husband then returned to the Iberia area in 1972. She was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church and The Gideons International. She was a 76-year member of the Iberia Order of the Eatern Star beginning her membership on April 1, 1930.

Survivors include one daughter, Lois Marie Akers and husband, Bill of the state of Indiana; two sons, Wallace Campbell and wife, Barbara of Hartsburg and Jim Campbell of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two sisters, Mabelanna Heberger of St. James and Marion Lewis of Webster Groves; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, at the Iberia First Baptist Church. Rev. Glen Golden will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Gideons International or the Bennie and D.L. Campbell Scholarship Fund at Southwest Baptist University.
