Doris Jeanette (Plemmons) VanHooser Gaub, age 92, of Crocker, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Brumley on June 14, 1933, daughter of the late Allie and Alma Edith (Keeth) Plemmons. On May 14, 2000, in Iberia, Doris was united in marriage to Donald Gaub, who survives at their home.

Doris had a passion for the outdoors and found great joy tending to her flowers. She cherished quiet moments watching hummingbirds, which brought her peace and happiness. She was a graceful lady, who carried herself with quiet dignity and elegance in every situation. Her kindness and grace served as an example to her family and friends, leaving a legacy of warmth and respect. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Richland.

In addition to her loving husband, Don Gaub, she is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Copenhaver, David East, and Terrie Ware; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Allie and Alma Plemmons; husband, Chum VanHooser; daughter, Beverly East; son, Greg VanHooser; grandson, Gregory VanHooser II; and her 12 siblings.

A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, at Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley with Pastor Justin Brodie officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
