Dorothy Evelyn Barnhart, age 77, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, formerly of Ulman, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Bonner Springs Nursing Home. She was born in Brumley on August 22, 1940, daughter of the late Benjamin and Maggie (Golden) McDowell. On May 12, 1959, in Tuscumbia Dorothy married James W. Barnhart, who preceded her in death on November 29, 1997.
She is survived by her son, James Barnhart and wife Brenda; son-in-law, Mike Atwell; four grandchildren, Brooke Rayl and husband Chris, Brian Atwell, Alise Chandler and husband Rob, and Laura Guenther and husband Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Maddison Rayl, Sydney Rayl, Jayden Chandler, Kaia Chandler, and Elizabeth Guenther; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Sue Atwell on February 2, 2015, three sisters, and six brothers.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 25, at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia with Jimmy Erickson officiating.
