Dorothy Marie Edwards, age 94, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at her home. She was born in Ulman on July 21, 1926, daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie (Witt) Jenkins. On August 2, 1946, in Lawrence, KS, Dorothy was united in marriage to James Ivy Edwards, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2000.
Dorothy served as the caretaker of Jackson Cemetery for many years. She was a woman of faith and was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Tuscumbia.
She is survived by one son, Roger Edwards and wife Diane of Tuscumbia; one daughter, Barbara Roddy and husband Frank of Columbia; five grandchildren, Vicki Strope, Angela Faurot, Stacey Zuck, Heather Pardue, and Travis Edwards; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one on the way; two sisters, Helen Martin of Ashland, Tracey Wilms of Eugene; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Oliver, Gene, Carl, and Curtis Jenkins; and three sisters, Ruby Kemp, Eunice Oglibee, and Ethel Wertz.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Charlie Worstell officiating. Interment will be held in Jackson Cemetery in Ulman.
Facial masks and social distancing are highly encouraged for those attending the service.
